The Neuros du Monde NGO was created on 15 January 2001. It followed its forerunner ANLLF ( Association of French Speaking Independant Neurologists) by inviting Hospital Neurologists and Neurosurgeon into its fold. The Association is primarily interested in French-speaking countries which already have one or more Neurologists and Nurosurgeons qualified in Africa, Asia and in South America. |

| Its objectives are: |

To equip hospitals in developing countries with electrophysiological equipment (EEG, EMG, ...) Doppler or Scanner |

To offer a complementary training for the utilisation of this equipment |

To supply medicines for the treatment of neurological diseases |

To provide training for urgent neurosurgery to general surgeons in collaboration with the local neurosurgeons and to help them to acquire the basic equipment |

To train the relevant engineers for the upkeep of these apparatus |

To stimulate friendship and mutual aid between the Northern and Southern hemisphere neurological and neurosurgicals communities |

To help implement research programs on neurological diseases in tropical environment. |

The Association in financed by subsrciptions of its numbers and by pharmaceutical industry sponsors. For specific projects, a request for subsidy can de addressed to the Ministry of Cooperation and to the European Union Authorities. |

In the past eight years a certain number of actions ( see attached list of projects ) have already been led by the French Neurology body and were covered by the local press. A program of actions is worked out every year and discussed with Hospital Authorities, even local governmental authorities and, if neen be, in collaboration with ’ Institute of Tropical Neurology ’ in Limoges. |
